Enjoy the arts in the spectacular `summer glory of the Rocky Mountains and experience the world-class events at the renowned Aspen summer music festival. Our trip begins in the picturesque Victorian town of Aspen and concludes in the Mile High City of Denver where we visit the world class Denver Art Museum, take an excursion to Colorado Springs and see a performance at the historic Central City Opera House.




1. Wednesday, August 3 Arrive Aspen We depart from Newark Liberty airport on a morning non-stop United flight to Denver where we connect to Aspen. Crisp, fresh air and bright blue skies welcome you to this historic town where we stay at the Limelite Hotel. Tonight we enjoy a welcome dinner and a performance at the Festival. (The program will be announced in the spring).
 2. Thursday, August 4 Aspen Festival On a walking tour through the historic west end you’ll see landmark Victorian architecture and hear fascinating stories of Aspen’s past. We visit the Aspen Art Museum recognized internationally for presenting outstanding contemporary art exhibitions. After lunch (included) you have free time to explore the galleries and shops. Tonight we enjoy a Festival performance.
 3. Friday, August 5 Aspen/Denver We take a short morning flight to Denver where we begin our tour of the "Mile High" city. We see the Colorado State Capitol Building, with its 24 carat gold dome. We continue to Larimer Square, the birthplace of Denver, and see some of the finest remaining late 19th and early 20th century commercial buildings in the American West. We check into the stylish Warwick Hotel, in the heart of Denver's trendy uptown.
 4. Saturday, August 6 Denver We visit the Denver Art Museum, which has a world-class collection of western, and American Indian art on display. The American collection includes paintings, sculpture, prints, and drawings from all major periods in American art. After lunch we visit the Molly Brown House, which stands as an enduring symbol of the Victorian era in the city of Denver, primarily between the years 1894 and 1912.
 5. Sunday, August 7 Central City We take a scenic drive through the Rockies to the historic gold mining town of Central City where Colorado's golden past and vibrant present come alive. The Opera House is the nation's fifth-oldest opera company and attracts international patrons. We have matinee tickets for Vanessa, Samuel Barber's deeply moving lyrical drama depicting a love triangle enveloped in passion and tragedy. The lush musical score won a Pulitzer Prize for music upon its debut. Before the performance we get a close-and-personal look at today’s opera by one of the Festival Artistic Staff.
 6. Monday, August 8 Colorado Springs We travel south to Colorado Springs toward Pike's Peak where we visit the United States Air Force Academy and enjoy the mystifying beauty of the Garden Of the Gods, a beautiful area of sandstone formations. After lunch (included) we tour the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, an archaeological and natural history preserve featuring the awe-inspiring cliff dwellings. The museum offers a glimpse into the world of the mysterious people who left a remarkable architectural legacy on mesa tops and in cliff walls. We return to Denver where we have a farewell dinner
 7. Tuesday, August 9 Depart Denver We depart midmorning from Denver and fly non-stop to Newark, arriving at 4:00pm.
